H.E. Amb. Dr. Elsie Sia Kanza was delighted to meet with Hon. Congressman Jonathan L. Jackson, Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Illinois and a member of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Africa. H.E. the Ambassador and Congressman Jackson, a great friend of Tanzania, reiterated their commitment to enhancing Tanzania-U.S. relations for the mutual benefit of both countries and their peoples.
Congressman Jackson is the son of the late Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., one of America’s most prominent civil rights leaders, who also maintained longstanding ties with Tanzania and visited the country several times.
While at Congressman Jackson’s office, H.E. the Ambassador also met with fellows of the Rangel Graduate Fellowship Program, which prepares young Americans for careers in the U.S. Foreign Service. The fellows expressed keen interest in learning more about Tanzania and looked forward to visiting the Embassy to further their understanding of the country.
